SPARSH ORGANISES SPORTS FEST ON WORLD DISABILITY DAY

World Disability Day is celebrated all over the World on 3rd December, this year Sparsh celebrated this day by organizing a Sports Fest for Special Children at The Thyagraj Stadium on 4th December 2015. President of Sparsh Mr. MP Singh addressed the children and motivated them with his kind words and declared the meet open. Children released balloons as a symbol of peace and humanity. The hon’ble Chairperson Mrs. Sudha Gupta also addressed the gathering with her inspirational words. She encouraged the participants to give their best performance and she applauded the zeal and spirit of special children who participated in the event.

Guest of honour at the event were two Padam Shree Awardees, namely, Mr. Ravi Chaturvedi, Cricket Commentator and Dr. Saumitra Rawat who graced the occasion. Many eminent personalities, Bureaucrats, CEO’s of various companies, Environment Groups, and Business Entrepreneurs came to witness this event. Students from 7 Presidium Schools assembled at Thyagraj to cheer them up by applauding, and cheering them up throughout.

The Highlights of the event were 25 mt race, 50 mt Race, 100 mt race, Relay Race, Shot-put throw, Wheelchair Race, and Standing Long Jump. A total of 14 Special Schools participated from Delhi and NCR. 257 special students between the age group of 11 to 29 years participated in the event. 150 girls from Shakti project for underprivileged girls also participated. Sparsh Shakti girls also welcomed the guests by a lively sports drill. A beautiful and colorful cultural programme was presented by the students of St. Mary’s School and Amar Jyoti School. A remarkable Yoga performance was given by students of Shakti School.

The idea behind organising the event was to give these special students a platform for recognition, visibility and acceptance with open arms in our society. The unison was seen that everyone from the worker to the Director was seen in the same uniform. Director of Sparsh Mrs. Sapna Sukul, expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came to witness the show. The event was for a special cause and it turned out to be a huge success.
