CELEBRATING THE HEALING TOUCH OF YOGA ON WORLD YOGA DAY

Yoga is rightly referred to as the artwork of awareness on the canvas of body, mind and soul. Implying valuable meaning in every word, this saying must be deeply realized on the auspicious occasion of World Yoga Day. The special children of Sparsh Special School practice various effective ‘asanas’ and ‘pranayams’ regularly, which offer a tremendous healing touch for them. They enjoy doing Yoga with their dear friends and have made it a daily habit. Learning the art of breathing properly and observing your inner strength, the special students have thus added a dose of health in their everyday routine.

EQUIPPING OURSELVES TO TURN AROUND EMERGENCY SITUATIONS BRAVELY

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin

Learning to prevent a fire breakout can effectively turn around unfortunate emergency situations. With the mission to equip our staff about the fire safety rules in and out, a mock fire safety drill was organized by Trinity Fire Service at Sparsh recently. The main topics of the training were causes of fire, fire risk assessment, types of fire extinguishers, fire hazards and evacuation procedure.

Creating an awareness regarding fire safety through different modes, the program brushed up the knowledge related to the action required on discovering a fire and raising the alarm to alert other members and special children. Ensuring to respond safely in the event of a fire, the entire Sparsh family pledged to come together for safety of our very special children efficiently.

MRS SUDHA GUPTA NURTURES SPECIAL CHILDREN WITH A MOTHERLY TOUCH

A popular Jewish proverb implies that “a mother understands what a child does not say” and it is more meaningful in a special child’s life. To celebrate this resplendent relationship between a mother and child, Mother’s Day was celebrated with unsurpassed vigour and enthusiasm at Sparsh. The celebration became more colourful and flavourful with the presence of our very dear Sudha Ma’am, who has always been there to provide a soothing motherly shade to these special children. With her warm and comforting words, she addressed all the mothers and paid her regards to them for always standing beside their special child, because it is their love, support and compassion that make the world a better place for them.

FORTIS EQUIPS SPARSH FURTHER TO TEACH CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

When the team of Fortis expressed dire interest in conducting a workshop on "Sensory Play" for the teachers of Sparsh, we were more than delighted to say ‘yes’. Their team successfully facilitated exploration and naturally encouraged the special children with autism to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore.
Developed by the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, the Fortis National Mental Health Program was introduced under the aegis of Director, Dr. Samir Parikh. The resource person for the workshop, Ms. Avantika Aggarwal is an expert special educator, who specializes in the different techniques of play that can be used to teach autistic children. Learning about several effective activities that stimulate autistic children's senses was an incredible experience for our teachers.

AN INCREDIBLE KATHAK PERFORMANCE ENLIVENS WORLD DANCE DAY

Dance is the hidden language of the soul and this saying came to life in the way our lovable special children celebrated the World Dance Day with unmatched vigour at Sparsh. The special children seemed much more than happy to warmly welcome a miraculous professional Kathak dancer, Ms. Shikha Sharma, on this extraordinary day. This elegant graded artist of Delhi Doordarshan has won several hearts with her amazing Kathak performances on many platforms. Besides bowling over the entire Sparsh family with a delightful performance showcasing graceful movements, discipline lines and rhythmic footwork, the talented artist also set a commendable example in front of all. Beautifully capturing the cheers and musical claps of our special children, the event magnified the love for dancing in their hearts. The Sparsh family heartily honours Ms. Shikha Sharma for making the day even more special for all of us!

SPECIAL CHILDREN PLANT TREES AS A TRIBUTE TO OUR MOTHER EARTH

With the mission of endowing our special children with abundant love for Mother Nature, Earth Day was celebrated in full swing at Sparsh. The excited students learnt about the importance of planting trees in order to make earth a better place to live in. Coming together in making earth greener and cleaner, they cheerfully dived into the interesting activity of planting saplings in small flower pots and wished that their plant grows, prospers and contributes in their objective. Serving as a reflection of their special love for Mother Nature, the planting activity made us confident about the saying - “he that plants trees loves others beside himself”

FRIENDSHIP GETS A NEW MEANING, PRESIDIANS MEET SPECIAL CHILDREN

It was a sublime moment of joy when our lovable friends from Presidium visited Sparsh to meet the special children. Bringing sweet and cherishable moments of joy for the special children, the Presidians gave generous gifts to them as a token of their priceless friendship. The beauty of friendship lies in the spoken words, unspoken feelings and kind gestures and that is what was put forward by the special children, who opened their hearts to their friends with warmth and affection.

BAISAKHI CELEBRATIONS ENLIVEN THE SPECIAL CHILDREN OF SPARSH

Baisakhi is a beautiful spring harvest festival that is celebrated to welcome oodles of prosperity and wholesomeness into our abodes. With the same belief, members from Lions Clubs visited Sparsh to relish this bountiful festival with our special children. Showering voluminous love and happiness around, the Lions Clubs Team distributed goodies to the students of Sparsh. Delighted to receive loads of admiration and cheer, the special children danced on Punjabi folk songs to brighten up the day with abundant positivity and vivid hopes.

SPECIAL CHILDREN RUN MARATHON TO LIONIZE THE WORLD AUTISM DAY.

Adapting our own perception, following rather than leading and building bridges, are all keys to helping the child with autism learn. Firmly believing in this ideology, the Sparsh family celebrated the ‘World Autism Day’ on 2nd April, 2017 by participating in a marathon with great vigour and excitement. Seven special students from Sparsh proactively participated in this 2km run, specially organized by the Special Olympics Bharat-Delhi for athletes with disability. Displaying the unparalleled sporty spirit of children with special needs, the brief sports adventure enabled the audience to look at autism with their hearts, for their eyes might miss something.

SPECIAL CHILDREN DISCOVER THE WORLD OF SCIENCE & ASTRONOMY

Special students, Shakti girls and Udaan children of Sparsh recently attended in a ‘Space Foundation’ workshop organized by SPACE, the pioneer organization working towards the development of science and astronomy in India. Proactively participating in various activities related to astronomy and safe solar observation, the excited students ardently engaged themselves in the workshop. Delighted to observe their weight on different planets and learn about some amazing facts about our solar system through interesting activities, the budding learners looked exceptionally overjoyed. The workshop proved to be an immersive learning experience for all and opened the doors to the fascinating infinite sky.

GURU RANDHAWA TRIGGERS A MELODIOUS CELEBRATION AT SPARSH

Packed with immense spirit uplifting prowess, music takes you to a whole new world. Special children of Sparsh are quite fond of music and are always up for a harmonic gala time. When the renowned singer Guru Randhawa came to Sparsh, the children were on their toes in profound excitement. Delightfully cheered by the mild on-beat claps and humming of the Sparsh family, the young singer was deeply touched. His soulful Punjabi melodies lighted up the faces all around and he generously thanked team Sparsh for showering their signature warmth on him. Witnessing a melodious bonding between special children and Guru Randhawa, the event served as a rejuvenating experience.
A big note of thanks to Ms. Rachna Chaurasiya, without whom, relishing this occasion wouldn’t have been possible for the special children!

SPARSH FILLS WITH REVERENCE & JUBILATION ON SUDHA MAM’S BIRTHDAY

The hearts of our special children have always been filled with deep reverence and love for their school’s founder and patron, Mrs. Sudha Gupta, and they did not miss the occasion of her birthday to showcase their admiration. Mrs. Gupta was overwhelmed beyond words when the Sparsh students and staff wished her a Happy Birthday in a passionate unison.
The Sparsh family made her cut the birthday cake and she jovially reciprocated their warmth and affection. Special children also presented a heart-warming dance performance to make her day extra special. Heart-touching melodies from a specially invited singer Guru Randhawa acted as the perfect backdrop to the event full of warmth and emotions.
Heartiest thanks to Ms. Rachna Chaurasiya from the Taekwondo Federation for accentuating this celebration with her magnificent touch!

SPECIAL CHILDREN APPLAUDED FOR THEIR YEAR-AROUND HARD WORK

It is a heart-touching moment for parents to see their children being acknowledged and this sight was proudly witnessed by the Sparsh family when the special children got awarded for their year-around hard work in front of their parents. Celebrating our special students’ achievement in the last year, the profit received by selling a series of useful commodities made by them for both everyday and festive purposes was gifted to them recently. With tears of honour in their eyes, the proud parents of these spirited children received several beautiful products handmade by their wards as token of respect.
This splendid ceremony was a reflection of silver lining in the sky for Sparsh students as they felt as a productive member of the society. Helping special children in growing as an individual, vocational training enables in boosting their self-confidence and gives a ray of hope for their future endeavours. The day left an upgrading essence of self-dependence and the gratifying feeling of making their parents proud, in the smiles of our special children.

FUN-FILLED HOLI CELEBRATION IN THE CORRIDORS OF SPARSH

With the onset of spring, all of us get into the colourful mood of Holi, a vibrant festival symbolizing the beauty of colours and the eternal love of Radha Krishna. This vibrant festival was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm by the special children at Sparsh. Greeting their friends and teachers with the fragrant floral gulaals that they made a few days back, they rejoiced the day in delight. Welcoming feelings of fun, love and closeness among the specially-abled students, the celebration gifted them moments to be cherished forever.

A SOULFUL TRIBUTE TO THE SPIRIT OF GIVING

Some people leave their kind footsteps behind to inspire many. Their acts of kindness and contribution ensure that they stay in our hearts forever, even after they are gone. The name of Late Shri Sudhir Yadav Ji will always be one such memory for Sparsh.
We express our deep regards to his benevolent family, which approached our organization to make a generous contribution of his belongings. For accomplishing a noble cause in his loving memory, they generously donated these items to a bunch of people who needed them. SPARSH HONOURED WITH BRAINFEED SCHOOL EXCELLENCE AWARD 2017

When Sparsh was honoured with the Brainfeed School Excellence Award 2017 as one of the top ten Special Education Schools in India, it was a roller-coaster of feelings of gratitude, overwhelm and joy for the entire Sparsh team.
At this prestigious event, the Brainfeed Magazine, a monthly educational, honoured top schools of India at the 4th National Conference on 4th February, 2017 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi. It identifies the schools that educate and transform young minds by providing quality education every year.
The family of Sparsh Special School is immensely humbled with this mark of recognition and expresses a big vote of thanks to its supporters across the country. Overjoyed and proud to serve as a happy abode to the special children of our society, we pray to the almighty to always keep us enabled to do better work for them in the future also.

ANOTHER COMPASSIONATE MOMENT: LIVELY DIVYA GETS THE GIFT OF EYESIGHT

It is said that of all the senses, eyesight must be the most delightful but there are many people who are devoid of the beautiful gift of eyesight. Like many, Divya, an eight year old chirpy student at Sparsh Special School was also living in the dark but she didn’t know the world around her is soon going to change with a dash of light. Partially blind, the joyful student possessed a strong desire to fight all odds that accompanied her disability and made the impossible happen at last.
Recently, she was taken to the trusted organization of Choithram Netralaya Comprehensive Eye Care Services that performs superlative research into the prevention and treatment of blindness in Indore. Here, her condition was studied by some experienced doctors and eye surgeons, who recommended a set of high power spectacles for the girl, not considering surgery the right option at such a young age. Now she can recognize people on looking clearly and walks slowly on her own without bumping as before.
With a big thanks to Mrs. Sapna Sukul for all the sincere efforts and cooperation in making this miracle happen, Divya’s parents were delighted to see tremendous improvement in her condition. Now she has a better vision and her heart-warming way to trying to look at things she never saw seems like a ray of benevolent sunshine.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION INVOKES THE TRUE SPIRIT OF NATIONALISM

Special children at Sparsh possess voluminous love and respect in their hearts for their country and this called for a splendid celebration of Republic Day. Amidst the dynamic crooning of our national anthem, the national flag was elevated in its signature profound glory in a special morning assembly. Remembering our national heroes for their unmatched contribution in shaping the present of our country, the day became a joyous memoir.

11 YEAR OLD CHAHAT SHARMA WALKS HER FIRST STEP:OVERWHELMING MOMENT

Miracles always happen when you believe in them and Chahat Sharma from Sparsh Special School has proved it yet again. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and nonverbal speech, she was unable to walk and speak and was also suffering from involuntary drooling. With the help of physiotherapist - Dr. Ravi, occupational therapist - Dr. Neelam Chauhan, speech therapist - Mrs. Sudha and her class teacher - Mrs. Ravija, her situation was continuously monitored and controlled.
Today, she is able to walk with one finger assistance and express herself by making sounds and trying to speak words. Her drooling is also much under control and her parents are happy with the Sparsh Squad to see such a drastic improvement in their daughter. Her strong will and our team’s diligent efforts are a living example of saying, “try try until you succeed!” Such overwhelming experiences are an inspiring pat-on-the-back for our entire Sparsh family.

ILLUMINATING LOHRI CELEBRATIONS FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN OF SPARSH

The start of a new year deserves a glorious stepping stone and there cannot be a better opening than the festival of Lohri, celebrating pious fire, new harvest and downfall of winter. The festivity accentuated with the birthday of Sparsh’s President, Mr. MP Singh, who added to the festive sugariness by sharing sweets. Our special children poured down their affectionate feelings on him and received bounteous blessings in return. With a prayerful bonfire, the very first get together of the New Year made us hopeful for happy and promising times ahead.

FIRST AID & CPR WORKSHOP: SPARSH LEARNS LIFESAVING SKILLS

To confidently avoid situations of serious medical distress, a First Aid and CPR Workshop was conducted at Sparsh. All the staff members of Sparsh proactively participated in this lifesaving training program. They not only gained a deep understanding about providing immediate medical aid in emergency cases, but also learnt about the hygienic precautions for first aid and the dos and don’ts for CPR. After this emergency medical course, an exam was conducted and the entire Sparsh team passed with flying colours. The successful completion of this useful workshop is a progressive sign that we are now capable of helping people in time of need. A big round of thanks to Dr. Kritika Nanda from Max Healthcare, Gurgaon, and President of Sparsh, Mr. MP Singh, who made it all possible!

SPARSH WELCOMES NEW YEAR WITH OPEN ARMS

New Year brings with it, a new start with a new hope. With their hearts filled with the same belief, the lovely special children at Sparsh are excited to welcome the New Year 2017. Students of KIIT World School, Pitampura proactively came to add an unmatched warmth and fervour to our special children’s New Year gala. The celebration began with exchanging New Year wishes and ended with a day to remember. The zest for life and unshakable faith of these special children made everyone pray for a brighter tomorrow for them.
